President and co-founder of Statusfirm, Christopher is a young entrepreneur with a passion for life and business.
The world has been good to my family and me. I've lived my life as if each new thing presents a new challenge and although I should have done many things differently, I have no regrets.
About me...
I was born in a small town in Nova Scotia, a stone's throw away from the Atlantic and bordering New Brunswick in Canadian Maritimes. My family moved the year Gretzky made his NHL debut (you can tell where my priorities are) to Hartland New Brunswick. I was 5 at the time, so now you know how old I am. Hartland was a small town that could have been the set of a Hollywood picture and my days were consumed with playing guitar and skateboarding. I had an unhealthy addiction to both, really. Music taught me discipline, creativity, timing and perception. Skateboarding taught me to lose my fears. I think they're the same disciplines that bring an idea to life and create enterprise.
Fast-forward to 2004, and the birth of Statusfirm. Since my Hartland days I was privileged to work with some amazing mentors and found some small successes in business. It was early in '04 when friend and colleague David Nedohin and I began talking about an idea of forming another company dabbling in the world of streaming video.
Our first project would be the celebration of Alberta's Centennial and a remote streaming video webcast that would be viewed by thousands of people around the world. CurlTV, RawVegas.tv, The Energy News, Core Nucleus (now Core Unlimited), Hockey Online Training, BEAMcast and many more solutions would soon follow.
Statusfirm took its little corner of the digital stage and a true company was formed with all of the moving parts. We've filmed HD video from the cockpit of a chopper through New York City; we've filmed professional hockey players and built the digital applications that would assist in their training; and we did all from a modest facility in Edmonton, Alberta. We've even built applications that help people in need of rehabilitation get back on their feet.
These days we're focused on our Core Unlimited and Core Catalyst technologies, on which all of the abovementioned projects reside on. It's a rich media platform that addresses the digital media and communication needs of most organizations. It connects people and enables them to make assets from previously disposed information. A virtual library of information if you will, custom tailored to each company and persons needs. It's an exciting place to be.
So there it is, my verbal spilling to those who would listen.
