Guitars, Music and necessary Escapes….

So here is my post for May… and I promise I will try to do better at keeping my Blog updated.  Also, I am trying to make it a lot less business-centric than it has been in the months.  I want my Blog to be about real life and not business lessons.  Maybe I’ll throw the odd lesson in, but it’ll be related specifically to my life.

Gretzky Camp, M & A and the Entrepreneurial Cycle.

The title of this blog may cause a little confusion, so I will take the time to clarify a little. Just a little, though.

I just returned from Wayne Gretzky’s fantasy camp. It truly is one of the best experiences I have ever had. It’s a place for aging males to try to relive the glory years they never had by paying to play hockey with some immortal ex-NHL pros.

It’s primarily filled with entrepreneurs and highly paid executive types, as the price of admission is a little higher than a weekend in Banff. It’s for a good cause though, and the professionals that come to camp make it an experience that brings familiar faces back year after year. Gretzky and his brother in law Mike Brown are everything that you would expect and more – and the camp gives a large percentage of the proceeds to the Gretzky Foundation.

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/070625I read the above blog a couple of days ago and had a laugh.  I won’t get into it too much… just click the link and read away.   It’s too funny.   I love the NHL game and everything, but this guy really knows how to give it out, you’ve got to give him props.

Anyway, off to business… so I guess I’m not TOO sorry about talking about hockey too much.

Leaders and Followers:  Hey guys, I know it’s been a long time since my last Blog.

I’ve begun the living on an airplane thing again.  It’s that time of year when we need to start putting the relationships together that are necessary to build for the future and prepare for new advancements.  As much as I truly enjoy the people we do business with all over the globe the travel gets to you a bit after a while.  Not that I am complaining, I live a blessed life - but airport after airport gets taxing on the body.  It’s like living in a Flintstones world, where you walk by the same faces in the same scenes over and over again, as if you hit the rewind button on your DVD controller.  I am becoming a little burned out.  I need to go sleep in a place with no phones for a couple of weeks I think. Unfortunately that option doesn’t exist right now.

Hey guys its been a while I know but I’ve been busy so cut a guy some slack. I just spent the last few days at NextMedia a prelude conference to the Banff International Film Festival. The conference covers everything new media. Its has a great group of people who come out and I have to say hats off to my friend Robert Montgomery and his team for doing a great job in such a short period of time. The conference is only in its third year. The trip left me thinking of a few things. You hear so much talk about people who are off to the races to try to create huge traffic in their new broadband TV efforts. This is an abvoius. If you can build big traffic you can get great advertising dollars.
